Ending The Day With . . .
Taco Bell (two cheesy gordita crunches) Tequila  And … wait for it …  Jonathan Edwards.  Yep.  Probably the first time in human existence that Taco Bell, Tequila and the writings of Jonathan Edwards have been simultaneously ingested.

Okay, Sorry Guys.
One more part, from Chapter 10. This parts always makes me laugh out loud when I read it. I hope it does the same for you. ——————————————— I walked up to the cash register.  The guy working was dressed in all black.  He even had black hair and a black beard.  He had kind eyes.  He had a humble spirit.  He...

The Trip Of A Life
Did you ever ready my book? It’s totally insane to me that - just a year ago - I was on this trip and writing this book. For some reason, I’m reading through it tonight.  Here’s an excerpt from chapter eight. ———————————————————— Try not to get paralyzed by...

this made me tear up
“Can God bring proper, lasting justice, banishing certain actions - and the people who do them - from the new creation while at the same time allowing and waiting and hoping for the possibility of the reconciliation of those very same people?  Keeping the gates, in essence, open?  Will everyone eventually be reconciled to God or will there be those who cling to their version of their story,...

THE SPCSHP //: The Last One Was No Good →
thespcshp: I just wrote a long post about the concept of rough drafts and how many of us keep making half-assed efforts, never to finish the final paper and be done with it, and how that relates to life, but I deleted it. That wasn’t what I really wanted to say. It didn’t feel right. What I really want…

THE SPCSHP //: Confession →
thespcshp: I think about how I want more money quite a lot - especially when I have none. If you gave me $10,000 I’d probably spend all of it tomorrow and then want more. I feel pretty confident that I am right about most everything, and everyone else is not only wrong - but stupid, too. I have terrible… I know I’ve been pretty honest about myself on the Internet, but damn.  This...

365childhood: [challenge 197/365]: play the cup game. If you’ve been to summer camp, you’ve probably played the cup game. Though it isn’t the same as playing with twenty other kids at picnic tables, Katie and I decided to put a fun twist on this challenge just for you, tumblr friends (as inspired by Lulu and the Lampshades). We thought the Where the Wild Things Are cups were a nice touch. ...

the best lyric of 2011, thus far
i was thinking about this the other day, as i walked out of Sam’s Club (i love Sam’s Club), armed with bleach and apples and granola bars and breakfast hot pockets. the best (single line) of lyrics so far this year goes to Tyler, the creator.  Seriously. “I’m a f***ing walking paradox, no I’m not.” i don’t even really know what he says in the rest of...

Mowing The Lawn
Today is Saturday.  Saturday is a day for doing things you didn’t have time or energy for during the work week.  So I’ve been doing those things… a new tire on my scooter, an (unsuccessful) trip to the bank(s), and mowing my lawn. Domesticity and adulthood.  Whaddup. A car drove by when I was out mowing earlier, and it made me flashback to the days when I mowed my parents yard....

i haven't shared anything on TUMBLR in a while
and i just wrote this PS to an email to my mom, and i wanted to post it here, too.  crazy, the stuff we keep with us from childhood.   “P.S.  Another childhood memory I was reminded of today … one time we were using the oven to cook a frozen pizza, and I wanted to “learn how” to do it.  So we looked at the back of the box where it said, “Cook for 15 to 17...

i love using the word "unacceptable"
it just adds a certain weight to your sentence that no other word can do. it’s especially satisfying to use it about things that are completely subjective.  for example:  eating Taco Bell for lunch is unacceptable.  Taco Bell should only be consumed after 6 PM, and that’s the very earliest I’ll go.  anything before 6:00 is completely unacceptable. do you feel how fulfilling...

two "passive listens" in
and it is terribly beautiful.   i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: anything that justin vernon touches turns to gold. he’s the king midas of music, y’all. btw, a “passive listen” is listening while you’re doing something else (i.e. working, reading, etc.).  you’re not giving all of your attention to just the music.
